Participants will learn about that New Jersey has many more existing buildings than new structures and how the Rehab Subcode is applied for all work done to an existing structure.
Learning Objective 2:
Participants will learn about simple and complex construction projects to learn how the multiple sections of the Rehab Code apply. The differences between "repairs", "alterations" and "reconstruction" will be reviewed.
Learning Objective 3:
Participants will gain an understanding of how to develop a systematic and methodical approach of the proper application for various projects, including ones deemed historical.
Learning Objective 4:
Upon seminar conclusion, participants will be able to identify which work type a Rehab project is identifies as, and recognize which Rehab code sections are applicable for the design of an existing structure.

Abstract:
This seminar will review all types of Rehabilitation work and is designed to be an enhancement to the participant's existing knowledge and understanding of the Rehab Code. Participants will have explained and be able to develop a methodical approach for navigating through the Rehab Code. The sections of the referenced codes that are applicable will also be reviewed. Participants can have questions prepared for seminar discussions. A workbook or handout will be distributed to the participants prior to the seminar.
Teaching Style:
The teaching style is interactive and formatted to cover the various learning styles along with creating an environment for discussion. The seminar instruction is developed such that the information will be presented in an interactive lecture style using a PowerPoint presentation coupled with group discussions and handouts of the relative code sections and supplemental supportive documents. These will aid the participants by serving as a guide and involving examples of Rehab projects.
Seminar Purpose:
New Jersey has many more existing buildings than new structures and the Rehab Subcode is required to be used for all work done to an existing structure. It can be confusing to navigate through the Rehab Code for both an applicant and the designer. Proper application of the Rehab Code requires an understanding of the various types to Rehab work and which code sections, as well as which parts of the referenced codes, are applicable. Participants will see simple and complex construction projects to learn how the multiple sections of the Rehab Code apply. Developing a systematic and methodical approach of the proper application for various projects will be discussed. Upon seminar conclusion, participants will be able to identify which work type a Rehab project is identifies as, and recognize which Rehab code sections are applicable for the design of an existing structure.
