Forensic Architecture and the Standard of Care

Join AIA Central NJ for our Virtual presentation on April 8th 12pm-1pm:

An educational seminar presented by Elina Shchervinsky, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP.

This webinar is approved for 1 HSW CE credit.

In the ever-challenging practice of design and construction, architects are under persistent risks of liability claims. How can architects protect themselves in their professional practice? What are the standards of the architect’s care and how are they measured in the legal arena?

This presentation will discuss the architect’s standard of care, fiduciary duty, and explore the field of forensics. Speaker, Elina Shchervinsky, Forensic Architect, will identify the importance of the contract, codes and regulations, errors and omissions, and professional risk mitigation. She will apply the forensic investigation process to deconstruct how forensic experts analyze the breach of the standards.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define the architect’s standard of care and Code of Ethics Rule 3.102
  1. Identify the architect’s best practices, including laws and regulations that govern the practice of architecture for the public benefit.
  1. Establish a forensic investigation process that evaluates construction deficiencies and the breach of the standard of care.
  1. Institute forensic reporting to comply with negligence claim requirements.

Registration for this session is FREE for all participants.
