Course Description (1 LU HSW)

The purpose of buildings is to separate us from the outside. However, as building technology advanced, buildings in some ways became too good at this job—isolating occupants from nature, daylight, and fresh air.

In response, the building industry has increasingly embraced principles of biophilic design, emphasizing connection to nature, access to light, and improved ventilation. This course explores how thoughtful building design and select fenestration strategies can significantly enhance occupant health and well-being, particularly as defined by the WELL Building Standard.

About the Speaker

Diane van Horn is the Senior Architectural Territory Manager for Loewen Windows and Doors.  In her role Diane is responsible for architectural specifications, project reviews, design assistance and delivering Continuing Education courses.  Diane has experience in fenestration products for both residential and commercial applications.  Diane currently serves on the Board of Directors for AIA New Jersey’s Newark & Suburban Chapter.  In addition, Diane is a member of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) where she earned her Construction Document Technologist (CDT) certification.
