This course explores the unique properties and characteristics of various stone materials, including granite, quartzite, marble, soapstone, quartz, and porcelain. Participants will learn about each stone’s formation, properties, and common applications, equipping them with the knowledge to make informed decisions in selecting materials for their projects. The course also covers industry best practices in working with fabricators, focusing on critical aspects such as seam placement, veining alignment, and choosing the right finishes to achieve cohesive and aesthetically pleasing designs.

- Identify the unique properties and characteristics of various stone materials, including granite, quartzite, marble, soapstone, quartz, and porcelain.
- Understand the formation and composition of different stones and how these factors influence their performance in architectural applications.

About BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a masterpiece of traditional Hindu architecture, and is one of the largest hand-carved stone temples outside India. Its construction showcases remarkable engineering, as the temple is built using over 68,000 pieces of intricately carved marble and pink sandstone, assembled without steel reinforcement, making it a modern marvel rooted in ancient techniques.
